Discovering Northwest England - the Lake District

We were able to squeeze in one last small vacation before the summer craziness/lockdown. At first I wanted to get out and see Venice - you wouldn't believe how expensive the hotel was! I gave up on that idea and moved on to something we haven't done nearly as much of - see sites here in the UK. We've heard amazing things about northwest England, the Lake District, and southwest England, Cornwall. So we rented a car and decided to hit up both regions.

The Lake District is known to be beautiful but rainy but we were amazingly lucky and saw sun on both days we were there. The greenery and water was truly breathtaking. We visited a few of the towns in the area but definitely didn't see them all. We stayed in Windermere but got a chance to visit Kendal, Ambleside, Bowness-on-Windermere and Langdale Valley. I'll leave it to the beautiful pictures to show the highlights of our short 2 day stay:

We were leaving town just as the Olympic torch was arriving!
