Brief Summer and Long Fall - Travels so Far

Once again I break my promise (of blogging at least twice/month), does being busy at work count as an excuse? So we're back from Spain and Oslo, both were different but equally great trips in their own right. We really needed to get away, by the time we were in Spain, it had been a year since I had had a vacation (even longer for B!) While B doesn't love heat, I do, and wow was it warm in Alicante :) Just to provide a little context, it has been rainy/windy and barely 65 in London all "summer" so being able to see and experience sun every day was heavenly. Maybe the pictures can speak better to why I had such a great time...

After we got back from Spain, I've been very caught up with work as we gear up for a busy fall, while B had been getting ready for school (orientation started last week). Thankfully I've had 2 3-day weekends in a row to rest, recuperate and travel some more :) (U.S. diplomats get both local and American holidays). My parents come on Thursday for my cousin's wedding so I've been using whatever spare time I've had these last few weeks to get the apartment in order. Nothing like a family visit to incentivize putting all the HHE & UAB away ha.

We got back from a short 2 day trip to Oslo just last night, had a good time there too. Oslo is great, just too expensive for my taste (we spent $93 for 2 meals + dessert!) Even though it was raining all weekend, I really enjoyed seeing the sights (Viking ships, Nobel Peace Center, etc.)

Seems like one of the best parts of being posted to Europe for your first tour is traveling: I'm heading to Belgium in October then Paris and Amsterdam with the hubby in November. I'm hoping my brother comes to visit in December so we can all take a roadtrip through Italy together.
